Dora and the Lost City of Gold Trailer #2 Goes Exploring for the Ultimate Treasure

We have a brand new trailer for Dora and the Lost City of Gold. This serves as a live-action adaptation of Nickelodeon's beloved and highly regarded children's series Dora the Explorer. So, be it adults who are now feeling a bit nostalgic regarding a major fixture of their childhood, or young kids now who are still enjoying what Dora has to offer in her animated form, this is bringing the heroine to life in a totally new way. This latest trailer offers our best look yet at what Isabella Moner is going to bring to the role.

It's clear that Dora is going to be ripped from her comfort zone. As we saw in the previous Dora the Explorer trailer, she is being pulled from exploring the jungle alongside her parents and is being forced to go to a real high school with other kids her age. Inevitably, Dora finds her way back to the jungle and ends up being able to lead her fish out of water friends through the terrain that she's far more familiar with. Dora's cast of familiar characters is also along for the ride, with Diego and the trusty monkey Boots both showing up. Even Swiper the fox, who was her most notorious nemesis from the series, is making the jump. But there are also human threats present in the kid-friendly action/adventure flick.

Isabella Moner previously starred in movies such as Michael Bay's Transformers: The Last Knight and Sicario: Day of the Soldado. Interestingly enough, early on, it was reported that Bay was going to serve as a producer on this movie, but that turned out not to be true. Eva Longoria Desperate Housewives, is on board as her mom, Michael Pena (Ant-Man and the Wasp) set to play her dad. Benicio Del Toro, who previously worked with Moner in Sicario: Day of the Soldado, is lending his voice for Swiper. Diego will be portrayed by Jeffrey Wahlberg (Future World). Last, but certainly not least, Boots is going to be voiced by none other than Danny Trejo (Machete).

Dora and the Lost City of Gold centers on Dora, who has spent most of her life exploring the jungle with her parents. But nothing could prepare the young explorer for her most dangerous adventure ever; High School. Dora quickly finds herself leading her monkey pal Boots, Diego (Jeffrey Wahlberg), a mysterious jungle inhabitant named Alejandro Gutierrez (Eugenio Derbez), and a group of teens from her new school on a journey to save her parents, while also trying to solve the impossible mystery behind a lost city of gold.

James Bobin (Alice Through the Looking Glass, Muppets Most Wanted) is in the director's chair. Dora and the Lost City of Gold is set to arrive in theaters on August 9 from Paramount Picutres. Will this be a later summer surprise? Or merely something parents will take their kids to see? Be sure to check out the new trailer for yourself.
