Every Movie Trailer from Comic-Con 2019

Another San Diego Comic-Con has come to a close. 2019 was dominated by TV trailers, but the movie side of things was more interested in quality than quantity. And 2019 seems to be the year of the sequel. Easily, the biggest trailer of the weekend was the surprise release of the Top Gun 2: Maverick. Tom Cruise shocked fans who were lucky enough to be in attendance and delivered the first footage from the highly anticipated sequel. Jon Hamm was not messing around when hyping up the footage before it dropped on Thursday.

Andres Muschietti's IT Chapter Two was another trailer that brought the house down when it dropped early Thursday morning. If horror fans weren't already hyped to see the sequel, they certainly will be now as Pennywise continues his terror spree. On the opposite side of things, the Cats trailer was also released and it baffled a lot of people and caused quite the stir online. The hyper-realistic cat fur CGI is either amazing or horrifying, depending on your outlook. If you haven't seen it, consider yourself warned.

Kevin Smith was also able to catch fans off guard when he surprise released the Jay & Silent Bob Reboot trailer. The director was supposed to release the trailer on Saturday night during his Hall H panel, but he decided to release it early and fans were extremely excited to see what Smith has been hyping for the past year. The sequel may hold some type of record for the most celebrity cameos all in one place. Terminator: Dark Fate did not release a new trailer like everybody was hoping, but Tim Miller and crew did deliver an awesome behind-the-scene featurette which delivered some brand-new footage.

A second trailer for Brad Pitt's Ad Astra was also released and it looks like an epic intergalactic adventure with some deep twists and turns. Ghostbusters 2020 was expected to release at least a teaser, but Jason Reitman is more than likely too busy shooting the movie since production just started a few weeks ago. With that being said, the movie side of things was a lot smaller this year when compared to past Comic-Cons. However, we will probably end up with some surprises from Disney at the end of August when the D23 Expo.

San Diego Comic-Con 2019 really didn't have very many movie trailers. However, it had a ton of announcements, courtesy of Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige. The MCU's Phase 4 is going to dominate the box office for the next handful of years. If you missed out on any of the big Comic-Con movie trailers, you're in luck since we did all of the leg work and collected them all to put them in one convenient place. You can start by checking out the Top Gun 2: Maverick trailer below.

Tom Cruise dropped by Comic-Con to surprise release the Top Gun 2: Maverick trailer to a stunned audience. As it turns out, the audience at home was just as stunned and the trailer instantly became the biggest of the weekend. Cruise is back as Maverick and he's as defiant as ever.

New Line Cinema dropped our best look yet a Andres Muschietti's IT Chapter Two and kicked off Comic-Con in a terrifying way. The sequel looks ten times more frightening than the first installment and Pennywise is a lot angrier this time around. September 6th is going to be a big day for horror fans when the movie is finally released.

Kevin Smith decided to drop the trailer for Jay & Silent Bob Reboot a few days early and his fans were happy he did. The Reboot trailer was one of the biggest of the weekend and Smith knew it would be. The movie sees the director reunite with his old friend Ben Affleck after nearly a decade of not speaking to each other.

20th Century Fox released a new trailer for Ad Astra to kick things off at Comic-Con. The movie stars Brad Pitt as an astronaut who is about to discover something mysterious, which could affect the whole world. The journey will uncover secrets that challenge the nature of human existence and our place in the cosmos.

Shudder's Daniel Isn't Real trailer provides a terrifying look at the horror thriller. Patrick Schwarzenegger stars in the movie and he might have a very bright future ahead of him in the horror genre. The movie has been getting rave reviews for being pretty messed up.

While Top Gun 2: Maverick was the biggest Comic-Con trailer of the weekend, Cats was definitely, without question, the most controversial. People were not sure what to make of the human/cat hybrids and their realistic digital fur. Whatever the case may be, it elicited some very strong opinions and got some solid views.

Tim Miller and crew did not release a trailer for Terminator: Dark Fate, but they did deliver a behind-the-scenes featurette. The video contains a ton of previously unseen footage from the highly anticipated sequel and it everything has been amped up in a major way. Miller and James Cameron have created a monster and fans are hoping it will live up to the first two installments.

Chadwick Boseman reunited with the Russo Brothers to star in 21 Bridges. The Avengers: Endgame directors are producers on the project and they wanted to aim for the crime thrillers of the 1970s. When looking at the trailer, they have achieved their goal while Boseman looks like a pretty convincing NYPD officer.

The Sharknado franchise is over, but Syfy isn't done bringing absurd ideas to the small screen with Ian Ziering as the star. The Zombie Tidal Wave looks just as ridiculous and you can imagine, which should really say something after seeing a few Sharknado movies. This will definitely be some absurd fun.

In another surprise move, AMC released a brief teaser for The untitled Rick Grimes Walking Dead Movie. It doesn't show off any footage, but it lets us know that it's really on the way and that it will only be available to be seen in theaters. This was huge news for fans of the hit AMC series.

Shudder's Daniel Isn't Real Trailer Brings Brain-Twisting Madness to Comic-Con

Patrick Schwarzenegger has been praised for his terrifying role in Shudder's Daniel Isn't Real. The trailer for the horror thriller just dropped and it is intense, to say the least. Adam Egypt Mortimer directs the movie from a screenplay by himself and Brian DeLeeuw, which is based on the novel In This Way I Was Saved by DeLeeuw. Reviews have been overwhelmingly positive for Daniel Isn't Real after its premiere at SXSW. Now, Shudder has the project hitting select theaters and VOD in December.

With the first trailer dropping at Comic-Con, Daniel Isn't Real centers on troubled college freshman Luke (Miles Robbins), who suffers a violent family trauma and resurrects his childhood imaginary friend Daniel (Patrick Schwarzenegger) to help him cope. Charismatic and full of manic energy, Daniel helps Luke to achieve his dreams, before pushing him to the very edge of sanity and into a desperate struggle for control of his mind -- and his soul. This barely scratches the surface for the horror movie, which has been called over the top several times now.

Adam Egypt Mortimer recently spoke about the "intense" time he had making Daniel's Not Real. He also talked about the casting process, noting he needed someone really special to take on the Daniel role. Thankfully, he found Patrick Schwarzenegger, who just happens to have one of the biggest action stars in the world as a father. Mortimer had this to say.

"Daniel himself had to be such an incredibly handsome and charismatic young man, who is also sinister and (the actor) had to pull off all the secrets and mysteries that are revealed about the character. Patrick was forged in the fires of incredible genetics, and has a personal confidence, and a technical awareness of the camera, that allowed him to be free and weird and sexy."

As for casting the role of Luke, that was another challenge. However, Adam Egypt Mortimer was able to find Miles Robbins, who he first saw in the comedy Blockers. Mortimer has nothing but great things to say about working with Robbins, who brought a lot more depth to the Luke role. Mortimer explains.

"When I met with Miles Robbins, I had seen and loved him in Blockers, where he was hilarious and warm and crackling with life - something that was super important to me for this character. He brought to our meeting so many great ideas about the themes of modern masculinity and had such a deep understanding of what this movie is all about. He then proceeded to audition for both characters and completely smash it. He is an empathy machine, the moment you see him on-screen you are in love with him."

In addition to Patrick Schwarzenegger and Miles Robbins, Daniel Isn't Real also stars Sasha Lane, Hannah Marks, and Mary Stuart Masterson. Producers include Daniel Noah, Josh C. Waller, Lisa Whalen, and Elijah Wood. The horror thriller is all set to hit limited theaters and VOD platforms on December 6th via Samuel Goldwyn Films. It will then release on Shudder at some point. A firm release date has not been determined. While we wait, you can check out the trailer for Daniel Isn't Real below, thanks to the Samuel Goldwyn Films YouTube channel.

Terminator Dark Fate R-Rated Sneak Peek from Comic-Con Arrives

Tim Miller and James Cameron have officially confirmed that Terminator: Dark Fate will be R-rated. In addition, Paramount Pictures has released a behind-the-scenes featurette, which shows off some brand-new footage. Some of said footage was shown off today during the Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con and those in attendance were floored by what they saw. Miller and Cameron decided to take the franchise somewhere new, while keeping the roots planted firmly in the past with the return of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, and Edward Furlong.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is definitely a fan of Terminator: Dark Fate receiving an R-rating, as he proved at San Diego Comic-Con. He actually blames some of the failure of past Terminator movies on the fact that the studio pushed for a PG-13 rating in an attempt to get more people in theaters. However, James Cameron and Tim Miller never thought about anything else other than a proper R-rating for the highly anticipated sequel. And from the looks of things, the movie really earned the R-rating. Even the behind-the-scenes action is full of foul language from Miller and Linda Hamilton, while the footage of the actual movie is brutally violent.

The Dark Fate featurette is full of never-before-seen Terminator footage as shown at SDCC. Shots of Linda Hamilton's Sarah Connor decimating Terminators with a rocket launcher and some grenades is one of the better things you'll see all day. Arnold Schwarzenegger's T-800 taking a mini-gun to Diego Luna's Terminator's face is another epic moment. Luna's character doesn't even react as he goes back to stare the T-800 in the face before presumably retaliating.

Many fans were hoping we'd get the second Terminator: Dark Fate trailer today, but that sadly was not the case. With that being said, the featurette is a great consolation prize because of the unseen footage, and we also got a Dark Fate Comic-Con poster. Our second real look at the movie will be coming soon since the movie opens up in November, which is just right around the corner. For now, we have an excellent first trailer and the new featurette to tide us over while we wait for our first look at Edward Furlong as John Connor. It's not clear if he'll be in the next trailer, but the cat is out of the bag with that casting secret now.

Tim Miller and James Cameron wanted to throw the rule book out the window while making Terminator: Dark Fate and it sounds like they did, while having a great time while doing so. Miller says that the sequel is "relentless," and he appears to be right on in that assumption. We'll just have to wait and see if the fans agree when the movie hits theaters on November 1st. You can check out the Terminator: Dark Fate behind-the-scenes featurette below, thanks to the Paramount Pictures YouTube channel.

Maverick Trailer Is Here as Tom Cruise Lands at Comic-Con

The Top Gun: Maverick trailer just landed at San Diego Comic-Con, giving those in attendance a look at the upcoming sequel. Previously, it had been reported Paramount was planning some kind of presence for the movie at SDCC, although this seemed to be just a rumor after the full schedule was released with no mention of Maverick. Fortunately, the studio had something in mind for fans after all, starting the hype about a year ahead of the sequel's release. While the presented Comic-Con footage may leave those who saw it wanting more, the countdown to the premiere has now begun, and we'll soon enough likely be seeing much more from the movie ourselves in the months ahead.

Maverick is coming along at the perfect time, as new sequels to classic movies are proving to be the newest trend in Hollywood. It's also been made clear they can be highly profitable, as filmgoers are willing to pay big bucks for nostalgia. Despite its popularity and success, Top Gun was one of those beloved classics from the 80s which somehow was never given any kind of sequel. Directed by Tony Scott, the original movie first hit theaters in 1986 and was met with tremendous box office success. Starring Tom Cruise as Pete "Maverick" Mitchell and Val Kilmer as Tom "Iceman" Kazansky, the movie follows a group of aspiring naval pilots competing to be the best at the Top Gun Naval Fighter Weapons School.

As we see in this Comic-Con trailer, the upcoming sequel is set 34 years after the events of the original Top Gun, bringing back both Cruise and Kilmer to reprise their roles. Now, Maverick is the new flight instructor of the Top Gun school, and it's time for him to pass the torch to the next hotshot naval pilot. In particular, he mentors the son of Nick "Goose" Bradshaw (played by Anthony Edwards in the original movie), who's now grown up and looking to do his father proud. The role of Brad Bradshaw, Goose's son, will be played by Fantastic Four star Miles Teller. Most fans of the original can probably agree that this is the best route to go in for a sequel. While it's necessary to see some new pilots honing their craft this time around, it just wouldn't feel like a Top Gun sequel without the returns of both Cruise and Kilmer.

Joseph Kosinski (Tron: Legacy) is directing Maverick, using a screenplay by Peter Craig, Justin Marks, Christopher McQuarrie, and Eric Warren Singer. In addition to Cruise, Kilmer, and Teller, the cast also features Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, Ed Harris, and Manny Jacinto. Cruise is also producing, along with Jerry Bruckheimer, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger.

We've been seeing tons of new content coming out of SDCC to start anticipating, including trailers for Terminator: Dark Fate, Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, and It: Chapter Two. Still, for fans of the original Top Gun, Maverick is among the most exciting of the upcoming movies to be featured at the event. Top Gun: Maverick will land in theaters everywhere on June 26, 2020, courtesy of Paramount Pictures.

IT Chapter Two Comic-Con Trailer Is Here, Pennywise Is Out for Bloody Revenge

IT Chapter Two is already looking like it's going to be ten times scarier than the first chapter. Andres Muschietti gave Stephen King fans what they have been waiting for at Comic-Con, which is obviously some new footage from the upcoming sequel. The director has been preparing fans on social media for weeks, including sending out digital invitations to this evening's ScareDiego, which truly kicked off the annual event in a very real and terrifying way. Bill Skarsgard has said that Pennywise the Dancing Clown is much more angry this time around and he was not kidding around when he made that statement.

Stephen King has already praised IT Chapter Two, which is basically all we really need to know. However, it's still nice to see some new footage to prepare us for the main event in September. The first trailer was not what horror fans were expecting and Andres Muschietti is taking delight in that fact as he continues to push the boundaries of taking King's iconic source material to the big screen. With that being said, he may have outdone himself for the sequel.

IT Chapter Two is on track to best the first chapter's opening weekend with an estimated $136 million. However, it could even float higher than that when all is said and done. When the first movie hit theaters in 2017, horror fans were immediately on board, but nobody saw it making $123.4 million in its first weekend in theaters. Now, the sequel is on board to beat that number while taking the highest grossing September opening weekend record at the same time. It will more than likely end up taking the crown from the first chapter to become the highest grossing R-rated horror movie.

IT Chapter Two is taking the Losers' Club and showing them as adults. Bill Denbrough (James McAvoy), Beverly Marsh (Jessica Chastain), Richie Tozier (Bill Hader), Ben Hanscom (Jay Ryan), Stanley Uris (Andy Bean), Mike Hanlon (Isaiah Mustafa), and Eddie Kaspbrak (James Ransone) are all back to Derry and it doesn't look like the reunion is going to be too happy for very long. Pennywise is also back and he is looking for some revenge for what the Losers' Club did to him when they were children.

IT Chapter Two is all set to hit theaters on September 6th, two years after the first installment. The book is one Stephen King's best-known stories and expectations are extremely high for Andres Muschietti to deliver the goods again. That's a lot of pressure, but the director is pretty confident he has risen to the occasion and so is King. After seeing some new footage from the sequel, September can't get here fast enough and Comic-Con might as well close up shop early after Pennywise stole the show. You can check out the new IT Chapter Two Comic-Con footage below, thanks to Warner Bros.
